In School Suspension Aide (ISS Aide)

Job Description

The In School Suspension Aide (ISS Aide) will be responsible for supporting and supervising students who are assigned to in-school suspension. The ISS Aide will work closely with students to help them understand the reasons for their suspension, develop positive behavioral strategies, and complete their assigned work.

Responsibilities

• Monitor student behavior and enforce school policies related to in-school suspension.
• Collaborate with teachers to provide academic support to students during suspension.
• Help develop individualized plans for students that address their behavioral needs.
• Document incidents and progress reports on student behavior.
• Engage in regular communication with parents and guardians about student outcomes.
• Assist in creating a supportive and respectful environment for students.
• Facilitate group discussions and restorative practices when applicable.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field preferred

Experience

• 2+ years of experience in a similar role working with at-risk youth.

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in Crisis Intervention: Skills in managing crisis situations involving adolescents.
