Job Description

The Diesel Locomotive Fireman is crucial for the efficient operation of diesel locomotives, directly responsible for monitoring and maintaining the firebox and auxiliary systems. This role requires a high level of technical skill, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the firebox and monitor combustion activity for efficiency.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairs of locomotive systems.
  • Keep communication open with train dispatch for operational updates.
  • Conduct regular safety checks on equipment and work area.
  • Help implement safety measures and best practices for locomotive operations.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of advanced training programs in diesel mechanics or locomotive operations is a plus.
Experience
  • Familiarity with locomotive maintenance tools and equipment.
