Job Description

As a Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher, you will take the lead in developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with various disabilities. This role involves close collaboration with general education teachers, parents, and educational staff to ensure each child's needs are met effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a structured, supportive learning environment that promotes independence and academic success.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to implement effective interventions.
  • Utilize various teaching strategies and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Evaluate and document student progress, adjusting educational plans as required.
  • Engage with families to communicate student needs and share progress reports.
  • Create a classroom culture that emphasizes respect and understanding among students.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to discussions regarding best practices in education.
  • Stay informed of new educational legislation and policies related to special education.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Master's degree in Special Education is preferred
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in special education or working with students with disabilities
