Job Description

The HIV Counselor will provide counseling, testing, and support services to clients living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS. The Counselor will work with clients to develop individualized care plans, monitor treatment adherence, and provide referrals to appropriate resources.

Responsibilities

  • Perform HIV testing and provide immediate feedback and support to clients.
  • Create a welcoming and safe environment for clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ensure all client data is handled with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Facilitate discussions about health concerns and assist clients in understanding their options.
  • Collaborate with public health initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training opportunities.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and make necessary adjustments.
  • Assist in developing outreach strategies to reach underserved populations.
  • Provide referrals to legal, financial, and housing assistance as needed.
  • Participate in team-building exercises and contribute to a positive workplace atmosphere.
