Animal Caretaker

Job Description

As an Animal Caretaker at Compassionate Animal Care Center, you will be responsible for providing daily care for a variety of animals, ensuring their well-being and comfort. This role requires a compassionate individual with a love for animals and a commitment to providing high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Oversee feeding schedules and ensure proper dietary needs are met.
• Administer treatments and medications accurately.
• Educate visitors on proper animal care and handling.
• Help maintain inventory of supplies and assist in ordering.
• Ensure that all animal care activities comply with health and safety regulations.
• Report any unusual animal behavior or health issues to the management team.
• Assist in facility tours and outreach events to promote animal welfare.
• Participate in staff training and development opportunities.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

• Previous experience in a shelter or veterinary setting is a plus.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of animal behavior
• Basic first aid for animals

Soft Skills

• Team player
• Flexibility

Certifications

• CPR and First Aid Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with animal enrichment techniques: Knowledge in providing mental stimulation for animals.
• Experience with rescue and rehabilitation: Experience working with rescued or rehabilitated animals.
