Job Description

The Emergency Management Director will oversee the development and implementation of emergency response strategies and protocols to ensure the safety and preparedness of the community during crisis situations. This role requires strong leadership in coordinating with various agencies and stakeholders to enhance community resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the planning and execution of emergency management programs.
  • Enhance community outreach efforts related to disaster preparedness.
  • Act as a liaison with news media for effective public information during crises.
  • Review and refine the emergency response training curriculum.
  • Maintain records of emergency management activities and training.
  • Engage in continuous professional development in emergency management practices.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Master's degree is preferred
Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in emergency management or public safety
Technical Skills
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Emergency Management Software

Advantageous

  • Knowledge of local and federal regulations: Understanding of laws governing emergency management.
  • Public speaking experience: Ability to represent the organization in public forums and meetings.
