Forensic Social Worker

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting individuals in the criminal justice system, providing them with essential mental health and substance abuse services. Collaborating with various legal entities, you will ensure that every client receives the care they need for successful reintegration into society.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial assessments and continuous evaluation of clients’ mental health and social needs.
• Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate client services.
• Document all client interactions accurately in compliance with organizational standards.
• Support clients in navigating the criminal justice system and available resources.
• Provide therapeutic interventions and individual counseling sessions as required.
• Work effectively to reduce recidivism through intervention and support.
• Educate clients and families about available treatment options and support systems.
• Foster relationships with community agencies to facilitate comprehensive client care.
• Continuously seek professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge in forensic social work.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Social Work
• Licensure as an LCSW or LMSW in the state of practice

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in mental health or substance abuse treatment, preferably within the criminal justice system.
