Job Description

The Medical Secretary and Administrative Assistant plays a crucial role in the healthcare facility by managing patient admissions, verifying insurance details, and facilitating communication between departments. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the patient registration process from start to finish.
  • Confirm insurance information and benefits for patients upon arrival.
  • Collect patient payments and ensure proper documentation is filed.
  • Respond promptly to phone inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Work with healthcare providers to facilitate patient care and flow.
  • Assist in maintaining a tidy and organized front desk area, welcoming patients effectively.
  • Handle confidential patient information with the utmost discretion.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry to support office operations.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field is a plus

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
