Job Description

As a Hoist and Winch Operator, you will play a crucial role in loading and unloading cargo from ships. The successful candidate will work closely with dock staff to ensure the efficient and safe operation of all lifting and handling equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Use hoists to load and unload heavy materials from vessels with precision.
  • Collaborate with team members to follow loading plans and procedures.
  • Monitor load weight and stability during operations to prevent accidents.
  • Complete safety checks and maintenance of equipment before operation.
  • Document all cargo movements and manage discrepancies or issues.
  • Assist in the training and onboarding of new team members.
  • Stay informed on site-specific safety regulations and compliance.
  • Engage in continuous improvement conversations to enhance operational practices.
  • Maintain the work area free of hazards and obstructions.
  • Respond to emergencies according to established protocols.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
  • 2-4 years of experience in maritime operations
