Job Description

As an Electric Locomotive Fireman, you will be at the forefront of rail operations, ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of electric locomotives. Your role involves close collaboration with locomotive engineers to monitor electrical systems, conduct equipment inspections, and perform routine maintenance tasks. You will be responsible for maintaining all locomotive controls and systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and assisting in the emergency situation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily inspections of electric locomotives to ensure optimal performance.
  • Coordinate with engineers to align on maintenance and operational needs.
  • Implement safety measures and report hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform necessary repairs.
  • Manage the operational readiness of train systems for the scheduled runs.
  • Document maintenance logs and updates as required.
  • Assist with training new firemen on protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure all safety gear and equipment are functional and available.
  • Engage in drills and training for emergency preparedness.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of relevant vocational or technical training program is preferred
Experience
  • Prior experience in a similar role within the rail transportation industry is preferred.
