Job Description

As a Public Safety Telecommunicator, you will be the lifeline during emergencies, facilitating vital communication between the public and emergency services. Your critical thinking and quick responses will help save lives and maintain public safety. This position demands attentive listening and the ability to assess situations rapidly.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret the urgency of calls and prioritize effectively under pressure.
  • Coordinate with fire departments and other emergency services during large-scale incidents.
  • Utilize geographic information systems to enhance dispatch accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations regarding emergency response.
  • Actively participate in training sessions to improve dispatch techniques and emergency protocols.
  • Support field units with real-time updates on incident progress and logistics.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with all responders.
  • Compile incident reports detailing response actions and outcomes for management review.
  • Assist in the development of new protocols to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Training in emergency management is a plus.
Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in a dispatch or emergency service role.
